Not every star that fell through the wound in heaven died of the falling. The Void Seraphs are what the survivors became: winged lights turned inside-out, haloed in the dark they fell through, still shaped like messengers with nothing left to announce. They circle the Rift's hollows as if guarding a throne, though the only thing above them now is the hole. The Grey Mendicants bury what they kill, and pray facing away from the sky.
