When Kudrek the Unfallen took his stolen throne in the Bastion, the old court did not flee — it curdled. The Throne Wretches were Harrowgate's chamberlains, heralds, and petitioners, bent by thirty years of bowing to a warlord who never once acknowledged them. They scuttle the throne-halls still, defending the seat with a courtier's spite, each convinced that when the true king returns, their loyalty will finally be noticed.
