The potters' quarter fired vessels for six crowns; the rot fired the potters' last batch into something that walks. Kilnfired Golems are hollow ware on the move — glazed, crazed and ringing faintly when struck, still warm from an oven that went cold a generation ago. They shatter easily, as good ceramic does, and come on regardless, as grief does.
