Esbren, the Rime-Bound Warden, froze the memories of the Pale Reach so the Quiet Sworn could not take them — and froze everything else too. The Frostbitten Wanderers are the everything else: travelers, mourners, and lost soldiers caught mid-step in the Weeping Rime, still walking roads thirty years gone. They do not know they are cold. They only know they were going somewhere, and something warm is in the way.
