When Ninelle came quietly for the Pale Reach's memories, Esbren did the only thing a warden could: he froze them where she could not reach — and froze everything else besides. Now he stands his watch in the Weeping Rime, mourners suspended mid-grief in his ice, waiting for a thaw he dreads. He does not want to fight you. He fights anyway. Wardens do.
