Naturalborn of the rift, Astaroth wears the night the kingdom died. When the stars fell through the sky, they fell through IT — the thing that made the Vaultstar look away while Kierstein burned. It is not one of Varokhaz's Sworn but something the King's wound invited: the hole in heaven, sneering that the King crawled up from salt while it poured down from above. Its pilgrims walk toward a light that no longer exists. It says the Fordsworn do the same. A wound, it whispers, remembers being open.
