Ashen Titan

THE WILDS

Some towns burned so completely that the burning became a body. The ashen titan is a settlement's whole ending stood upright — beams for bones, kilned inhabitants for marrow, grief for the wick that keeps it smouldering. It walks the cinder-country in slow circuits, ringing nothing, guarding nothing, retracing streets only it remembers. Scatter it and it drifts back together, because ash has nowhere else to go.
