Vhessa the Coilrot Queen chewed her pit; her brood-heir Vessarith deepened it into the Coilrot Warrens, and the Coil-Wardens are the eldest of that brood — serpents grown thick on Malgareth's grafted blessing. Each warden claims a tunnel-mouth and holds it with a mother's patience, chasing down anything warm that trespasses. In the Verdant Lie, even the snakes believe they are gardeners.
