Vhessa's brood did not die with the Coilrot Queen; it went down into the Coilrot Warrens and kept growing under Malgareth's green blessing. The moltskin prowlers shed themselves a little larger each season, leaving translucent ghosts of what they were papered along the tunnel walls. The Cinderwood Coven counts the sheddings to guess what is coming — and has lately stopped counting aloud.
