On the Revelwrack Shore the survivors' wake still spins — a festival thirty years long that dares not stop, for the first dancer to stand still hears Ysmr's bell. The sentries were the mourners posted to keep the circle moving. Now they drive stragglers back into the dance with broken lantern-poles, less guards than chaperones of a joy nobody feels, terrified of the quiet between songs.
