The last king's gardeners carved wardens to watch the royal terraces, and the Verdant Regent has never once let a servant retire. In the Crownless Garden the Gardenstone Wardens still walk their rounds, moss-jointed and briar-veined, three hundred seasons past the last royal stroll. They do not guard the flowers from you. They guard the grave the flowers grow on.
