Coldlight Mote

THE STARLESS BOWER

When the stars fell through the wound in heaven, not all of them landed. Coldlight motes are the crumbs of that descent — flecks of star-stuff still drifting through the Starless Bower, burning with a light that warms nothing. They follow Lumene's old trail like lost lantern-bearers, and they strike at anything alive, perhaps out of envy, perhaps out of grief for the sky that dropped them.
