The Unmarked Boneyard had a keeper once, sworn to match every grave to its name. Then Ninelle took the names, then the markers, then his. The Warden keeps his rounds regardless, a hollow diligence patrolling rows of anonymous earth, challenging every visitor for a name he could not recognize if they gave it. He buries trespassers neatly. It is the only kindness left him.
