Kudrek the Unfallen never once retreated, and neither may his household guard. The shieldsworn of the Unfallen Bastion hold walls that were never breached in a siege that ended a generation ago, shields locked against a relief that will never be needed. Some wear Harrowgate steel, stripped from the honored dead. They announce each wound as if it were a promotion. Retreat is not forbidden them; it is simply a word they were built without.
