Kudrek the Unfallen never once retreated, and neither may his household guard. The Bladesworn of the Unfallen Bastion circle the stolen throne in the armour of Harrowgate's fallen defenders, oaths welded on over oaths, keeping a perimeter the war stopped needing a generation ago. Each still salutes the empty relief-road at dawn. Then it returns to killing whatever came instead.
