Serpent-Mother's Coil

Shed by the great Serpent-Mother in the deepest of her brood-pits, this coil of banded scale keeps the sinuous quickness of its maker. It tightens when danger nears, as her young once tightened round warm prey. Speed, it seems, is only patience that has finally, hungrily, run out.
