The starving Marches prayed for a harvest-festival god, and the Sugared Lie answered — down to the guards. Confection sentries are the Idol's household troops, poured sweet and set hard, patrolling terraces of sugar that no one who eats from ever leaves. They smell of every feast the war stole. That is the trap working exactly as intended: hunger walks in, and the sentries make sure it stays.
