The vault-forges of the Cogwraith Foundry never learned the war was lost, and their watch-machines never learned to stand down. Each cogwraith prowler circles its allotted gallery on a route stamped into it before Harrowgate's siege began, oiled by the Foreman Undying's tireless line. The Iron Tithe say you can set a clock by them. Nobody has told the clock what it is counting toward.
